Duty Nurse Attacked And Break Her Hand By Patient’s Relatives In God’s Own Kerala
Relatives of a patient attacked a nurse in Medical College Kozhikode kerala india. Nurse got attacked and breaking her hand. Nurse Alphonsa Thomas, who was on duty at the 7th ward, was attacked and her hand was fractured. Following this nurses on duty went into a lightening strike. After assuring stern action against the culprits, the strike was withdrawn after 3 hours. The patient Kallerukulam Ravi, 54, from Sulthan Bathery, whose relatives initiated the attack, later died.
Ravi was admitted on Wednesday at 9 pm for consuming acid. He was shifted to the 7th ward in the emergency section. There were 7 people who accompanied him. It is learnt that the relatives of the patient created chaos in the beginning itself alleging improper treatment. As the 7th ward was the admission ward, there was heavy rush and many were being treated for snake bites too.
Alphonsa said there were 6 patients, including Ravi, who were in a serious condition at that time. She said they were given timely medicines and instructions. She said when she came back after wheeling off a patient to the gastro consultation, one of the relatives attacked her. They destroyed the report books in the ward and during this time the patient’s condition deteriorated and he died.
Alphonsa is under treatment at medical college. The strike called by the nurses affected the functioning of emergency section and ICU.
