INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL DEPARTMENT

The functions of department are

 Checking the clinics to detect and record the nosocomial infections daily

 Responsible for the epidemiological investigation of infections all in the hospital

 Perform the surveillance of the nosocomial infections

 Identifies the problems and issues related to infection control and consults with the infection practitioners for solutions, and maintain hygiene.

 Surveillance of hospital practices where they are related to infections,eg: sterile techniques

 Monitoring food hygiene and health of food handling staff and food storage

 Initiates precautions and isolation measures for transmissible diseases

 Develops and participate in educational programmes for the prevention and control of infections and maintain the records, and should be checked daily.

 Preparation of infection control statistics for infection control committee

 Refer with the microbiologist on emergence of epidemiological important organisms in the hospital

 Checking the laundry services and standard of washed linens

 Organizing water samples for the hospital main tank, dialysis unit, and drinking cooler machines in the hospital for microbial and chemical test
